Often when we begin a difficult journey the hardest steps we take are the first ones. If we can just start and tell yourself take a couple steps (I'll walk around the block once, workout for 10 min) and once you start you will find I feel better and more motivated to even more.

Remember there are two pains in life. The pain of disipline or the pain of regret. The pain of disipline is short term. The pain of regret can last a lifetime.

 Getting started

Getting Started on a fitness program can be a challenge if you have been inactive for some time. Kind of like climbing a mountain . But the great news is the benefits will always outweigh the start up anxieties. Once you've made the decision to make a change you are already half way there. Just remember fitness doesn't happen all at once. You probably didn't get out of shape overnight and it will take a little time to get back into the shape you want. But you can !! Here at Tri Fitness America we have all the tools to help support you. From getting started ideas to nutrition advice & healthy eating . Links and recommendation to the best local gyms, trainers and activities to keep you motivated and have a great time as well.

If it's been some time since you have excersised regulary . Your best way to start is as follows. Get a comfortable pair of shoes on and go for a walk around a block or two right away. When you get back to your computer you will feel more energy and motivation. Next if its been several years call your doctor tomorrow and make a appt for a check up. Remember start slowly and be realistic don't try to do to much to soon. Set a time when you can excersise at lest 4 times and week and keep the appointment with your self. The time you invest now in your health will pay of a thousand fold later in life, in the form if reduced cronic conditions ,diabeties, obesity, high blood pressure, hypertension ,and lower risk of cancer. Start with walking every other day. It has been said that walking 30 min a day and drinking 8-10 glasses of water a day can take up to 3 pounds a week off. If it has been some time since you have worked out seriously you should consider a trainer. A trainer can get you set up on a routain and teach you how to do the excersises properly. It is not nessary to spend years with a trainer normally. A number of sessions to get you started and from time to time a couple of sessions to add new excercises and varitiy. Check out our personal trainer section in find it directory for some great trainers who can get you on a top rate program today.

Getting in shape doesn't happen all at once. Fitness needs to be a lifestyle. Exercise and nutrition are each one piece. We have to realize that we are building a base for the future success. As you can't build a house without a solid foundation the same goes for your body. We need to build our foundation slowly and carefully so we can enjoy it. Remember you didn't get out of shape overnight and you won't get back in shape overnight. As the saying goes small success repeated become our great success.

Below are some great starter ideas. Then Check out our Option and recommendations page.

Make your exercise and workouts fun. The more you enjoy the things you are doing the more likely you are to continue.

Just go even if you don't feel motivated. Tell yourself just 5 or 10 min once you are moving you will most likely continue.

Go slowly to start and monitor your progress. If you have not been active for a while just walking 20-30 min 3 times a week could be enough to start with. Add new and small challenges every week. Keep a log of your progress this will tell you how you are doing and provide future motivation!

If you have trouble following through put exercise  appointments on your calendar and stick to them. Also have a friend as a exercise partner. You will have more motivation if you know someone is depending on you and you both can support each other.

When your workouts start to feel stale try something different. If you have been doing strength training and running for instance try biking for a while or train for an triathlon. Taking a martial arts class or joining a team sport can be a great way to mix it up and keep your fitness level moving upward. Yoga can be fantastic for your body and mind. Check out our pages on these options for great ideas and links.
